Respectable... Not bad... Could be better... Slowest since high school...

Well, Milan Masters meet was a mixed bag for me. It was a decent turnout at 40 swimmers. In years past I've made the mistake of trying 6 events. Last year I was swimming every 10 minutes. This year I told myself I'd do 3 events. I felt guilty and threw in a 100 back at the end... big mistake.

I was feeling pretty good off the bat. I was overtired from a late night working but I managed a 23.24 in my 50 Fly SCY. It was a respectable time for this point in my training. I moved on to the 50 free and just didn't get kicking or pulling water fast enough. My first 25 felt slow and it wasn't until the last 12.5 yards that I really kicked it into gear and started accelerating. I managed a 22.16 which wasn't horrible but not good either. My 100 Free was only decent at a 48.59. I really thought I could have tagged a 47 or so. I think I had it in me but it was just a sloppy race. Less than 10 minutes after my 100 Free was my 100 Back. I had no idea it would come up that quick. I was stumbling over to the blocks, still a little dizzy from my 100 Free swim. I knew I should have just scratched. I was out in a 27.xx and back in a 30.xx for a final time of 57.57. Quite literally the slowest I've swam the event since high school. It was actually a little embarrassing for me. Of course I was tired, but seriously... a 57?!

Great motivation I suppose, cause that was just sad.

The rest of the meet was great. I actually got to swim with other EMU Alumni D.Wohl, A.Wohl and D.Heikka (It's catching on). Lots of nice people and wonderful food afterward. I go every year because of the nice pool and free food! Thanks Milan!
