Kicking Galore!

Posted by Kevin Doak on Friday at: 6:54pm (October 8th, 2010)

The workout today was all about kicking both above and underwater. I've noticed there is a ton of leg work in these workouts, which I'm a huge fan of! We were doing:

4 x [4 x 75's (25 underwater + 50 big kick free) + 4 x 25's Surf Kick + 200 Free Drill + :30 vertical kick)]

Which was the main set, on top of about 1,600 yards of other kicking. The whole 4,400 yard workout took 2 hours because there was so much rest and short distances. I liked the variety!

Dipped under 166 lbs today, probably for the first time in my adult life. I'm down 15.6 lbs from 19 weeks ago. At this point I don't know what my goal weight is. I've swam my fastest in 2009 Long Course Nationals at 166 lbs. Today I ended up at 165.4 lbs. I eat constantly it seems and I'm not really working out that much. I have one 2 hour workout 6 times a week... more than the average American? Sure. But not some insane workout regiment. I haven't really done weights in a month, just some dryland. The college kids are doing twice the workouts I am. Anyway. I feel great and I'm excited for some meets!
