I really wish I could taper for this meet! I'm ranked 30th out of 58 athletes. Some of the superstars in the 100 meter backstroke event are:
Aaron Peirsol - 52.54
Randall Bal - 52.59 (I had no idea he was under 53 seconds!)
Matt Grevers - 52.99
Ryan Lochte - 53.37
David Cromwell - 53.81
David Plummer - 53.83
Peter Marshall - 54.19
Among many others! I'm waaay down the list with my 57.00 but I'm proud to be a part of the event! I have a big smile on my face just thinking about swimming among some of the best athletes in the world!
My event is on Wednesday, I'll leave Monday or Tuesday and drive to Indianapolis, Indiana. I'm going to try to time trial a 50 Free, 100 Free or 50 Backstroke, preferably the day before my race. It's getting exciting!
Today I was feeling pretty run down and only did 3,200 meters outside at Fuller Pool. I actually had a woman who was swimming in my lane yell at me for getting her hair wet. Yes, she was IN the pool when this alleged "splash" occurred. Since I was speechless at the time... and on the off chance she ever reads my blog... I sincerely apologize maam.
