This is the first product like this that I've seen. There are plenty of options for swim watches which allow you to manually keep track of splits or laps by pushing a button on the watch or finger timer. This watch keeps track for you by the use of an accelerometer. It senses when a swimmer pushes off the wall and uses that information to count laps and take splits.

The downfalls are that it only works on pools longer than 10 meters, which means it's totally useless in your hot tub. Other points are that it won't count laps while kicking and it doesn't count if you change strokes mid lap. All three are minor compared to the fact that the battery only lasts 12 months and then needs to be returned to the manufacturer for replacement! The device is $114.00 and available in July.
