Core Synergistics

WOW. I completed my first "Core Synergistics" workout last night. This week in P90X was a "Recovery Week" but I honestly don't know how this was anywhere near anything that could be considered "recovery". I did so many new and interesting variations of exercises I don't even know where to start. It was really tough, especially the "Running Pushups" where you run in place horizontally in the upward pushup position and then run in place in the downward pushup position. This is all while rotating your hips to keep your knees from hitting the ground. A full minute of this is enough to just make your abs and arms burn. I was really impressed with how much of a full body workout this was. The video had the athletes wearing shoes, I chose not too and I'm glad I didn't, I think it worked on my balance even more.

At this point, I still think Yoga is harder, but this workout is a close second!

My elbow injury isn't getting any better at all. I swim with it every day and it's a constant pain. It's so frustrating to think that it had nothing to do with me working out too hard, or getting older... just my stupid overstretching. I briefly considered seeking professional physical therapy but the reality is that all I need to do is take some time off swimming and dryland. At this point I just can't make myself do it. Its a really tough decision, on one hand I can just live with the injury and get through the summer meets and hope it either doesn't get worse or stays the same till I can take a few weeks off. The other side is that I can take a week or two off now, hope it gets better and then get back into it and hope I don't lose too much of my training. I could probably do all my swim practices and just simply kick every day. It would be BEYOND boring but it wouldn't hurt my arm.

I have a feeling I'll probably just stick it out and live with the pain. I'm too set on doing these meets and not willing to take time off.
