3 Workouts, 1 Day

Posted by Kevin Doak on Monday at: 4:57am (June 15th, 2009)
I woke up and did a 1 hour P90X legs and back workout to begin great Sunday! It was a beautiful morning so I headed to Fuller Pool for an outdoor swim. The pool opened at 11am for lap swimming and I was there shortly after. There were 8 long course lanes and 8 people, it stayed that way the entire time I was swimming. When I got in, I noticed my good friend Jim Pogue was swimming right next to me. Jim is active in the Masters community and a very good swimmer. To my other side I noticed a fast swimmer I couldn't identify. Half way through the practice I introduced myself and immediately felt forgetful... As he took his goggles off I recognized Keith, a swimmer from "The Doughboys", a Masters swim program in Birmingham, MI. We caught up on some training ideas for a few minutes and both got back to practicing.

I ended up swimming 3,000 meters in the awesome weather. The pool was the perfect temperature, just a little chilly when you jumped in, but the ideal training temp. My lane had a leftover "A2aqua" workout from the morning group which swims there. I was impressed with the workout, the 4,500 meter version (varies by skill level) was challenging, I did 1/3rd of it and was impressed with how challenging the intervals were! Afterward I got some sun for a few minutes on the beach chairs and took a picture of the pool from the top of the waterslide!

I got some work done and went for a 6 mile rollerblade just as the sun was going down. It felt great to be out in the sunshine today. I hope everybody else enjoyed the weather this weekend!
