First Double Day in a long time!

Posted by Kevin Doak on Saturday at: 12:13am (June 13th, 2009)
I did two swim practices today, the first time in a long time. Commonly referred to as "doing doubles", which I haven't had time for in my schedule for a long time. It felt great to swim that much in a day, however, my second practice was noticeably slower than the first.

We did quite a few 200m race pace 50's this afternoon, I was holding 30-33's on them. I wanted to be much faster but I was quite worn out. Our kicking set after warmup was fantastic. Right up my alley!

3 Times Through:
200 @ 4:00 Casual Kicking
2x100 @1:50 No Board Negative Split
100 @ 2:00 MAX

I was tearing it up. I have a feeling most everybody else was pretty worn out from a tough week. I lead the entire set and was holding 1:22's on the max 100's. I want to benchmark myself sometime soon, I want to find out how fast I can go on a 100 Long Course Meter Kick. Speaking of which.... A recent Brighton Grad, Marybeth Hall has been swimming with Club Wolverine for a few years and I just figured out who she was. I had heard Brighton has a great Butterfly/IMer but didn't know much past that. I had a chance to catch up with her during the last few practices. As a fellow Brighton Alumni, I'm proud to say that she's a very upstanding young lady. She recently signed her National Letter of Intent at Northwestern University for the 2009-2010 season:

Today she mentioned former Brighton Coach Sean Hickman (now Skyline) proposed a kicking challenge to both of us... A little Brighton vs Brighton race. We shall soon see which generation is top dog :)
