P90X Day 1 and a swim workout

I had a chance to practice with the summer group at EMU again today, it was a short workout because they got beat up this week doing 12k+ a day. We ended up doing 3,100 Long Course Meters. I did better today, I'm sure because it was within my normal workout yardage. During the evening I began the workout program I've mentioned before. It's called P90X. It's received a fair amount of press, I know a few people who have tried it. It is a 90 day program which uses mostly free weights and stretch cords along with your own body weight. I'm borrowing the 12 DVD set from a friend to give it a try. The documentation is solid, it is a regimented calendar and you do anywhere from 1-3 of the sessions on the DVD depending on the level you want to work out at.

I found myself wanting to mute the DVD. Although the instructor is helpful on technique and counting reps, he himself admits that it's tough for him to stay quiet. This results in him talking pretty much constantly. I assume he is the creator of the program, and therefore VERY passionate about it! He references the program name and disc name frequently, to the point it's humorous!

The names of the discs are very MANLY. I used the "Ab Ripper" disc this evening. It was a great workout at only 15 minutes, with 349 reps in 12 different body positions. I'm going to follow up with "Chest & Back".

Overall, I think it will benefit me to have a workout routine I do every day. I want to drop time and body weight exercise will help me manage form in the pool better.
