New Benchmarking Record!

As I've written many times, I enjoy benchmarking myself within practice frequently. It fuels the pride I have in my training and sometimes shows me where I'm slipping.

I do 5x100's pull Backstroke no equipment almost every day. Typical days I complete the 100's on the 1:12. Good days I'm 1:08. Today I bested my fastest 100 pull (no kicking at all) of 1:04 with an incredible 1:01!

Today I realized how to go this fast. By separating my kick from my pull and really self analyzing, I've learned a new position of using my arms to pull. Its really exciting to teach myself these lessons. Learning by doing is a great method for me. It gives me even more confidence in my self training which is priceless.

I find it interesting that my fastest 100 Kick is a 1:01 and my fastest pull is a 1:01. However, the best 100 Backstroke from a push in practice is a :52. It seems odd that there isn't more of a drop when I put it all together. Therefore adding a kick to my pulling is only worth 9 seconds and vice versa.

Someday I will do a 100 kick in a meet for fun.
