Recovering all weekend and Swimming Research

Posted by Kevin Doak on Monday at: 3:44am (December 14th, 2009)
After a brutal first day back on the P90X workout program combined with catching a cold, I decided to take both Saturday and Sunday entirely off. That upper body workout really tore me up, I probably overdid it with the pushups and pullups entirely. My arms have been mostly useless all weekend. They sort of just flop around, it's pretty sad looking really. I've been typing with my nose and ears. It's taken me about 45 minutes to get this much written.

I renewed my 2010 USMS registration tonight and looking forward to another great year of Masters Swimming! I did a little research on the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trial cuts without any success. Apparently they decided on the cuts in October 2009 but haven't released them yet. As you may have heard, the trials are in Omaha once again. The Qwest Center won the bid just like 2008 trials. I was really hoping they would change the location, but I suppose Omaha worked out pretty well for everybody. You really can't get any more central United States for travel purposes. I'm excited to see the cuts for the 2012 trials, I'm going to make an effort to qualify no matter what it is though!

I found myself on the USA swimming website www.usaswimming.org and looked through a few of their stories. The 2009 Duel in the Pool is in England this year on the 18th and 19th of December. www.duelinthepool.com I think it's odd that the Duel in the Pool doesn't include Australia at all. Typically this competition is the U.S. against the Aussies in either America or Down Under. This year it's The United States against "The E-Stars" which includes a combination of England, Italy and Germany. I'm all about a big meet like that, but the whole premise seems silly. Just makes me wonder what happened with Australia.
