Prelims went about as well as I could expect. My goals were to break a minute and make it back this evening to swim in the Finals. I accomplished both goals. I didn't move up or down in the ranks at all, I was seeded 20th and finished 20th in the prelims. My first 50 meters was a solid performance at 27.34. This first 50 split was the 4th fastest of the meet behind Matt Grevers, Aaron Piersol (World Record Holder) and Eugene Godsoe. it was a little more than half a second faster than Michael Phelps two lanes over from me. It got ugly after the 50 split as I could have predicted. All those people I just mentioned cruised past me as my legs gave out on me. As you can see from the video, I just ran out of steam at about the 65meter mark, and by 75 meters a few guys passed me up. I brought it home with a 31.06 which was enough to disappoint myself. It just shows I'm worn down, much like everybody else at the meet. It was still exciting to go directly against Phelps for the first time.

I'm in the "C-Final" tonight, not a great placing at 20th, but at least I get another swim. I'm very tired and sore, I don't expect to go any faster than I did this morning. I'll do my best obviously, but I know I gave everything I had in the prelims and came out with a mediocre 58.40. I've had a great meet so far, even a 27th place finish tonight will be enough to call it a fun trip and a memorable experience!
