26Great Meet Overall!

I had a great 100 IM! I finished in 59.52 which was about 0.20 seconds under my lifetime best time last December. I didn't get much warm down after my IM and it showed. My 100 Free was fairly slow at a 53.43. It was almost 2 seconds slower than my best at 51.75. I'm writing that one off to not enough rest. Overall it was a great meet. I had hoped to be faster in a few races but I learned a valuable lesson about getting up much earlier and being alert and ready to swim. I achieved two lifetime best times. One in the 50 Fly SCM and one in the 100 IM SCM. I have gotten 3 out of 23 personal best times needed to achieve my goal of ALL lifetime bests in the next 1 year. 20 great races to go!
Special thanks to John, Skip, Sally, Mark and Nadine for their support this weekend! It was a pleasure meeting all my new friends, namely Rob and his family, Heather, Linda and Yoshi.
The people are one main reason I compete in the Masters program. Everybody I've ever talked to is pleasant and supportive to each other. I'm lucky to meet such nice people with such diverse stories. I enjoy asking about their training schedules and how they balance it with work, family and life. I get some great stories! Some are swimmers in their 50's who had been running their entire lives and developed back or knee problems and needed a new sport. Some, like a gentlemen I met this weekend had been involved in baseball his whole life and needed a new sport, he was competing in the meet and brought his wife and 7 week old baby girl. Now that's a balancing act!
I love Masters swimming. Mark Gill put on a great meet with a solid turnout of over 100 swimmers. I'm planning on attending the next meet in the series at Louisville, KY if I can make it. Thanks again Mark!
