Weight Gain and P90X

I've been the same weight since I started college in 1999. In the last few months I've gained 8lbs. I've exercised regularly and recently added running into the typical mix of swimming daily, lifting and dryland workouts. I know I'm slightly stronger than a few months ago. After talking to a few swimmers, all of them think it's probably muscle weight. It just seems unlikely to me that I've actually gained 8 lbs of muscle without noticing. I'm going to do some research on the topic.

Today I had a chance to speak with the coach of EMU Diving, Buck Smith. He informed me of about an exercise program called P90X. Ironically I had heard about it from another friend just yesterday. Both of them seem to believe in the product and are in the process of trying it out. From what I understand it's a DVD video program that you follow for 3 months (90 days) and the point is to "confuse your muscles". The theory isn't one I'm familiar with but it makes sense. I usually do the same weight workout, or the same dryland workout. I'm sure my body had gotten used to what I do each day. This program is meant to always keep your body guessing and build up muscles you don't typically use. I'm excited to learn more.
