Working on Kicking

Posted by Kevin Doak on Sunday at: 5:31pm (February 13th, 2011)

It was a rough training weekend, just couldn't seem to find motivation in the pool.  Both Saturday and Sunday was a typical 3,000 yard workout however both days were comprised of a bunch of slow swimming.  The best I could muster in a few fast sets were 100's Free on the 57.xx and 100's Back on the 1:00.xx.  I feel a little run down but without good reason.  I haven't hit the weights hard at all and have had some more reasonable work hours.  I did however complete my first 50 underwater in a long time.  I don't think I've done 50 meters underwater since college.  We used to swim a set of 6x50's on the (go when ready) underwater with mono-fins.  Yesterday I did 50 yards underwater with a flipturn.  There was really no reason for it, I had been working on some underwater kicking and figured I would give it a shot.

I'm going to try and make it to the Grand Haven meet next weekend.  I've never attended the meet, simply because it's almost 3 hours away.  We shall see.  A few friends are attending so I may as well.
