I just got my life back!
I just left the orthopedic surgeon's office. My ankle seems to have completely healed in a shorter than average time. I've been cleared for all physical activity that I'm comfortable with as long as I wear an ankle brace that stabilizes my joint in all directions.
To my discredit, I haven't exactly been the best patient in medical history. I went a little bonkers sitting around and started moving around 2.5 weeks after my injury. I was wearing a walking boot and sometimes, no supporting mechanism at all. I understand that this stubbornness won't always work out this well. I'm happy to be walking around again! I feel like I've gotten my life back!
My life is entirely different
Over the past two weeks, I've had a completely different life. I'm laid up with a split on my leg. I've fractured my fibula and I'm on crutches. All day long I sit in a chair or on the couch with my leg elevated. I rarely go outside my house and when I do, I need to bother a friend or relative to be my chauffeur. The less I move, the better for the healing process. I find myself frustrated at my situation and my actions that lead me to this reality. I can accomplish a lot of my work from a computer but I find that I'm distracted by my injury so much that I'm not very productive. I know it's a temporary situation but wow... this is difficult.
