59.87 in the LCM 100 Fly!
I had pretty low expectations for this meet and I surprised myself with a lifetime best time! At the last minute I felt as though I would benefit from a "rev up" swim. I seem to always swim better after I get one race out of my system. Therefore I decided to swim the 100 Fly LCM. My plan was to just bust out a good 50 Fly, then bring it home nice and slow with a legal finish so my 50 Fly time would count. I dove in and felt pretty good so I took it out pretty smooth, had a good turn, 5 kicks underwater and brought it home as quick as I could. I really fell apart at the end but managed to drop a full second from last summer's swim at EMU. I took it out in a 26.55 and finished in a 59.87! This was a fantastic time for me! I'm ecstatic that I had such a great swim after the erratic training schedule I've had the past week!
The meet had about 35 participants, so it wasn't that large, this also meant that I was swimming every 8-15 minutes so the rest of the meet was pretty sad for me. The fact that I had an AMAZING 100 Fly (for me) really made me feel like I didn't have to accomplish much else since I felt so great about my first swim. In fact I was tempted to just call it a day after the 100 fly!
