Practice at U of M
Practice at U of M
I had the chance to train at 7am at EMU this morning yet opted to sleep in and go to the 11am-1pm practice at U of M. I've said it before and I'll say it again... being at U of M's facility just screams "ACHIEVE". Everything in that Natatorium just seems olympic-grade. From the starting blocks with the "M" actually molded into the top, all the way to the 2012 Olympic Games countdown clock which today read "748:04:02.xx Days". I think it would be an amazing place to train daily.
Since I have a meet tomorrow, I didn't beat myself up too much but I did a few good benchmarking sets. One was 3x100's kick on the 1:45. My times were:
1:30
1:31
1:29
Each one was done without a kickboard (since I didn't have my equipment there). We finished with 3x100's MAX on the 8:00. This meant that I would swim a 100 Backstroke and then have about 7 minutes rest before I would swim again. I started out great with a 1:05.00 (with a start), yet the 2nd one was a 1:09.70 and the third I was just dead, I decided to make it a broken 100 Back so I swam a 50 Back in 30.7, waited 10 seconds, then pushed off and swam another 50 back in 35.70. Together, not a bad swim but my lactic acid tolerance is just pathetic. There were other swimmers holding the same impressive times on all 3. Still, I was pretty happy with a 1:05.00 at the end of a practice!
