Changes to Training

Posted by Kevin Doak on Wednesday at: 3:11am (June 9th, 2010)

I figured that as soon as I bought my gym membership I would start getting stronger, somehow it's just not working out that way. It's been 6 hours and I don't see any improvements...

I got a membership to a 24/7 Gym, I'm excited to start using it! I've noticed a few things that have changed about my training over the last few years. As recently as 2007-2008, I was self motivated in both the pool and the gym. I could push myself in practice and work out in the gym at EMU. I had personal success in both areas.

Fast forward 2-3 years and I find myself achieving neither of those tasks well anymore. Due to my schedule and location I can't train or lift at EMU daily. I find it hard to push myself in the pool and I can't seem to make time to lift at EMU. This is the first time in my modern swimming career that I feel that I've NEEDED a team to train with. My lifting has been sporadic and unproductive because I do it at home and don't push myself.

To hopefully solve both these issues, I've started training with EMU's team this summer and I've bought a local gym membership to help in my training. I'm excited to make some much needed changes.

I weigh the lowest I have in months after a 2 hour practice!
