That was Graceful...

I personally like celebrating my failures as well as my triumphs. Today I stopped by EMU to train with the team. I actually had a great practice! I lead all but one set overall. Due to a busy schedule I had to take off about 30 minutes before practice was over. The pool was full because Club Wolverine had just gotten in. This meant I was short on space to even exit the pool. As I have in the past I grabbed the false start line pole right in front of me and hoisted myself out of the water. Midway up the pole shifted and my hand slipped down... Keep in mind, the team is between sets so its feasible that everybody was watching. Anyway, my body swung to the left an my arm scraped against the starting block just before both knees collapsed on the corner of the pool. Ouch.

The whole ordeal wouldn't have been as bad if I wasn't worried about crushing Justin who was partially under me as I got out of the pool. If I hadn't gotten my footing again I would have fallen, spine first in his head.

When it happened all I could hear were people exclaim "ohhhh"... that sound of understood pain... as if it was happening to them. I'm sure to anybody other than me it probably looked hilarious!

In the end I'm left with a scrapped arm and two bloody knees as battle wounds. I could swear I heard swimming was a non-contact sport!
