Moving Forward

After a disappointing meet, I'm back to heavy training. I decided to take one more day off P90X but didn't miss a day in the pool. Today I trained at EMU. I have to thank Coach Peter Linn for the 7,000 (I had time for 3,600) yard workout I recycled from my college days. It was a solid reminder of how difficult those college practices could be. I stepped on the scale after the 1 hour workout and yet again, I hold steady at 178.6 lbs. I find it interesting that I haven't lost any weight since I began training again. Lately I've been averaging about 1.25 workouts a day. I'd really like to get that number closer to 2.0 being comprised of one swim workout and one dryland/P90X workout.

Tonight is Chest/Back which begins my 2nd week of the program!

As I think about my 53.26 second 100 Backstroke from Sunday I feel that if I actually do get back to the 49's or lower, it will be my greatest comeback of my life. Looking back at my year to year progress, in 2005 I swam a 53.29 by doing literally zero training. In 2006 I swam a 51.81, only a 1.48 second drop. In reality I need to drop about 4+ seconds from where I am to actually be where I want to be. I know what it will take, and I'm willing to do what needs to be done.

Today I did some power kicking drills and power pulling drills. I have a long way to go.
