The Exact Monetary Value of a Swim Practice

Today, during my rushed trip to the pool, I parked in an empty parking lot and walked in. During my walk, I realized that were I parked was almost certainly against a local ordinance. This meant I would most likely be ticketed or towed if I left my vehicle there.

I had two obvious options... to move my car, costing me time in the pool... or chance a $25 ticket, or a $290 dollar tow. I walked for 10 minutes toward the Natatorium, considering my options. I weighed each side of the argument and how I would feel if I chose either of my options. If I moved my car, I would have that warm fuzzy positive feeling of obeying the law, yet significantly less pool time, and this was my only time to train. Then there was the option of getting a FULL practice and feeling physically great the rest of the day... even though I might be bailing my car out of some greasy tow business. Even if that was the case, they can have my money, I got a fantastic workout along with that ear-to-ear smile I get every time I dive in the water. I never turned back to move my car... Meaning, a single swim practice is worth somewhere north of $290.00 along with the hassle of losing my vehicle temporarily. Although many would consider that a silly gamble, I'm fairly proud of it. I love swimming.

I came back to find my car unticketed and untowed.
