Day 3 of Accomplishing NOTHING Athletic!

Posted by Kevin Doak on Wednesday at: 11:48pm (August 12th, 2009)
Alright, 3 days is about as much as I can handle. I'll probably hop in the pool or do a dryland workout tomorrow. The last 3 days have been really interesting from many angles:
  • I eat like a normal person, perhaps as little as 3 meals a day
  • I'm able to stay awake the entire day
  • I think about working out more than a few times a day, partially guilt, partially just missing it
  • I look at the clock and feel like I'm playing hooky from practice around 3pm
  • I'm overwhelmed with a feeling of not accomplishing anything to further my swimming career
  • I get quite a bit of extra work done by not exercising each day
I had planned on taking a week or two off of training, but I can't help but think about the fact that just 5 days ago I swam faster than I ever have in Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly... why wouldn't I use this time to build on rather than let my training slide? I think I'll still take it easy for a week or so, maybe swim every other day, but I'm so charged up and ready for more meets and training! I still wish I had swam a better 100 Backstroke but I know I'll get there someday. For now I'm basking in the glory of some of the fastest swimming I've ever done! I've watched my 50 Backstroke about a million times, it's almost crazy how fast I spin my arms in that event. I would prefer to spin slower and catch more water but it seems to work for now. I'm proud of how I swam my 50 Fly, 50 Back, 50 Free and 100 Free this past week. My training paid off at least a little. Ok, back to being lazy for the rest of the night!
