I began practice motivated and feeling great! My warmup and pre-main set was all feeling really good. Once our 3,000 meter main set started I was wearing down and loosing my drive to work hard. I actually considered sending myself home. Two things kept me in the water tonight:
1. My fellow swimmers in lane 5 today: Liz Koselka, Lori Morton and Sam Wensman. Although I went last in my lane today (AKA "Swimming Caboose"), seeing them swimming hard, kept me going to finish the set.
2. This blog and it's readers. I knew if I quit today I would have to report it here. That in itself was enough motivation to stay in the pool and stick it out. So thank you for motivating me!
I had a mediocre practice but I'm proud that I finished it up in it's entirety even though I was run down and lacking the drive to work hard. The set ended with a 100 meter backstroke "All Out". I'm pleased to say that even though I was absolutely ruined, I touched at a 1:06.4 from a push. Not a horrible time considering how I was feeling.
