24Triceps, Running and a Huge Kick Set

I woke up and began "Phase 2" of the P90X program. Today was "Chest, Biceps and Triceps. It was solid amount of pushups, curls, seated dips and chest fly's. I finally found a piece of this workout system I am absolutely incapable of achieving on any level. The 1 arm pushup. I tried many times. I CAN NOT do a single 1 arm pushup. I will keep working on it, but I failed miserably on that portion of the workout today. I simply lack the required arm strength. It's really quite sad. I'm not going to cry myself to sleep or anything, but it did make me question my masculinity a little when the MOTHER OF TWO on the video did quite a few! OUCH... Ok, so I might cry a little tonight.
I was a tad late for swim practice today so I strapped on the running shoes and booked it about a half mile to the pool. Probably not the best day to run a half mile before swimming. It was a kick day. My legs were feeling a little bit sub par after that little jaunt.
We had a massive kick set today comprising about an hour of our practice, around 3,500 meters. Repeating the exact set would be too emotionally scaring so let me just say it was "difficult" in nature. I chose to add myself to the special "fast interval" lane with the current kick champion of the group, Lori. She lead the lane while I desperately tried to keep up on the 200's kick on 3:10 LCM. I ended the practice with a voluntary 100 kick all out after 1:00 rest. I was disappointed to touch in 1:20.4... I'll take it though.
I'm hoping my state relay team of Alec Mull, Patrick Saucedo and Adam Schmitt can put a few relays together for the Long Course Nationals coming up in August. From what Alec tells me we have a decent shot at a few national relay records. Those relays at the Michigan Masters State meet were some of the most fun I've had swimming since college, just so much excitement along with the thrill of being part of a team again. The mutual respect we have for each other is inspiring. I'm glad I've had the opportunity to swim both against them in individual events and along side them in relays. They're all great athletes with an incredible competitive spirit!
