19Great Practice Competition!

The addition of the Womens U of M team, a few of the U of M guys, as well as some EMU and Wayne State swimmers, has made practice much more interesting! Lanes are a little crowded, but not too full. Four swimmers per lane (up from 1 swimmer per lane!) in a 10 lane long course pool has increased the pace of some of the race sets. It's been challenging and exciting to pseudo-compete in practice.
Today was about quality. The entire practice was only about 5,000 meters. We did a 2,000 meter pulling set followed by 30x50's on the 1:30 swimming 2 Fast, 1 Easy. I wish I could say I excelled in this set, but the reality is that I did my best, but sort of hung with the group. It was a mediocre practice from a performance level. I was a little short on sleep and it showed. I've tried to keep myself very busy with training and work, however, to the point I'm not getting the rest I need. I should focus on a solid night sleep if I plan on swimming well.
It was really nice taking the night off of the P90X. It was a mandated "Rest" day in the program and it was appreciated!
