As the Confusion Sets in...

Posted by Kevin Doak on Tuesday at: 1:04am (May 19th, 2009)
I had a great practice at EMU today, we did 6,700 long course meters. Quite a few U of M swimmers came today which noticeably upgraded my competition! They were a welcomed addition and pushed me more than usual. I give some major credit to the U of M womens team! There were more than a few women kicking butterfly during the kick set that were RIGHT there with me. I had to go ALL out to beat them.

I was proud of my performance today. I kept my heart rates within the specified ranges and lead the backstroke lane! We did 15x200's on the 3:20. I was touching the wall anywhere between the 2:38 and the 2:45. I was glad to have all the rest.

The humorous moment came at the end of practice, after I had lead the whole set a girl in my lane said:

"So you graduated high school last year?"

As a smile rolled across my face, I replied... Not exactly, I've been graduated from EMU for 6 years which would make me the oldest swimmer in this lane by 10 years. I just choose to train, compete and stay healthy.

The look of confusion was priceless. My swimming still seems to confuse others...
