52.2 from a push!

Not too shabby,

I finished a 4,200 yard practice and asked my friend Sarah to time me for a 100 Backstroke from a push. I was worn down but I wanted to see what I could do with 2 minutes of rest and a drag suit. I split a 24.5 and touched at 52.2 with some respectable underwater kicking. I really wanted a 51 second swim but 52.2 is close enough. Sarah looked a little tired today so chances are she was a little slow on the watch! I'm almost positive that this is the fastest 100 Back I've ever swam in practice. I'm confident I could have been in the 51's with a backstroke start. I'm making good progress but I feel like the clock is ticking on the State Meet. I have some lofty goals for myself and I was hoping to see bigger differences in my underwater speed by now.

I was really proud of my 16x25's today, I was COASTING in at 12 seconds per 25 for the first 4 of them. This adds up to a 48 second swim and I wasn't really working that hard on top of the water. It kind of blew my mind. I was surfacing at 15 meters, looking up and seeing the "6" second mark pass. This means I was really hauling underwater. The math tells me I was covering 9 yards in the remaining 6 seconds. Overall I was impressed with my practice considering how run down I am. Time for a good meal and some sleep!
