Lifetime best and National Record!

Posted by Kevin Doak on Sunday at: 8:09pm (March 15th, 2009)
For an unplanned meet on 5 hours of sleep, I had a few solid performances!

I started out with a 100 Back SCM, it was a decent race, flipped at the 50 and saw that I took it out in a 26.61 (I really shouldn't look). I turned up the heat and worked that last 25 meters and touched in a Lifetime best time of 55.26. The time broke my own Masters National Record of 55.65 set in December 2007! I think it was a great performance considering I didn't rest at all, I was short on sleep and had no cap and the wrong equipment. I wore my FS-Pro Jammer suit as I always do. My time was apparently 0.3 seconds away from the Masters World Record.

Next up was the 50 Back SCM. I knew my time of 25.15 was going to be hard to beat unshaved and untapered. Even more challenging is the world record at 25.05 set in 2004 by a German swimmer. I was tired from my 100 back but I had a textbook swim, I know I could have been faster and more powerful underwater, but that comes with rest. I blasted off a 25.22, my second fastest time of my life in the event! It was 0.17 seconds away from the world record, unshaved, untapered, unrested, in a normal suit. I was proud of that swim.

Next up was the 100 Free. I felt like I needed a nap beforehand. I had some great competition in the race, Alec Mull was right next to me pushing me the whole way! It was a photo finish and only a 0.02 second difference in the time! I finished at a 53.08. Not a groundbreaking time by any means, my best is a 51.75.

My 50 free was weak at a 23.87. I didn't feel strong and I kicked too long off the start.

My 100 Fly was UGLY. I was really tired. Out of breath on the starting blocks actually. I had a decent 50 split but fell apart BIGTIME. It was sad. I finished in a 1:01.14! A far cry frm my 58.33 four weeks ago. Alec Mull CRUSHED me with a 58.48!

Great Job everybody!
