Next Meet is Olympic Trials!
Next Meet is Olympic Trials!
My next meet is the Olympic Trials. Less than 3 weeks away. It feels both exciting and scary at the same time. I know I've already accomplished what I wanted to, which was to make it to the Olympic Trials, but I can't help but want to do really well there. This weekend was a good meet overall, a lifetime best 50 free but a disappointing 100 back. It's tough not to focus on the fact that my best event was weak this past weekend. I'm going to do my very best to train these next few weeks in hopes I'm more prepared to swim well in Omaha. Every time I think about my weak 100 backstroke performance, I'm immediately going to think about how this weekend I swam faster than I've ever swum before in the 50 free.
Let me take this a little farther for my own benefit:
- I'm 27 years old and never have I ever swam as fast as I did this past weekend in the 50 Free.
- I won my heat in the 50 free, not something I normally do in huge meets like this.
- I got a zoom in cameo from the video team during the race as I won the heat.
- It felt amazing to go so fast, and it meant a lot to see a great time on the board
- I know for a fact that I can go faster than I did this weekend in the 50 free.
- I finally broke 24, just one year ago in June I was a 25.06 in this event.
- I'm a 23.76, no longer am I shy about telling my 50 Free time, I'm proud to be close to a Trial cut in my 2nd event.
- I dropped almost a half a second in the shortest distance Long Course Meters sprint races.
- All of this means that this past weekend, I elevated my body to be the fastest I've EVER been in my life, even faster than I was at Ohio State two months ago, which I used to consider my best meet.
Lets see how far the power of positive thinking can get me in 3 weeks :)
