50 back lead off
50 back lead off
I looked at the 100 back final times again from this weekend, I'm really proud to say that I'm taking out the 100 back just as fast as some of the biggest names at the meet. I'm not saying I'm as fast as them, but it's a fact that the best 100 backstrokers at this meet had a 50 split in the high 26, low 27 second range, my prelim split was 27.34 which made me the 4th fastest leadoff split of prelims and the 9th fastest leadoff split of the day. Its my endurance that hits me on the 2nd 50 meters. I find it refreshing that these swimmers, at this point in their training are no faster (raw speed) than me, it's the last 30 seconds of the race that I'm dropping off. I'm excited to see how I can keep up once I have some rest.
Not that I actually think the meet admins will see this, but I want to mention how well the Santa Clara International Invitational was run. Everything from the wonderful volunteers, passionate and accurate meet announcer, timers and facility staff were all fantastic. I really enjoyed being there! Great Job!
