25Recent Workouts

I post these mostly for my own reference.
I swam 4,000 yards on Saturday and 3,200 yards yesterday, I had a great 100 Back pull no equipment at a 1:05 SCY and a 100 Back pull with equipment at a 1:03 SCY. I did 5x100's on the 1:40 SCY and descended them to a :57. I've made some recent progress on my average yardage as well as improving my speed in workouts. These changes have been influenced by my determination to better my times. For years I've been content doing about 3,000 yards a day (more in the 2 months leading up to trials). I've decided that I need more time in the weight room, more dryland body weight exercises and longer, better swim workouts. I think moving up to 4,000 yards a day is a solid step up. It gives me room in my workout for a longer main set. This change was partially fueled by swimming a written EMU workout I dug up from my college days. It was a well balanced IM workout which included quite a bit of drill and swim stroke sets. The portion I did only accounted for around 4,600 yards, but I was absolutely exhausted afterward. I normally only do 3,000 and only really go all out for a small portion of it. I can work harder so I will work harder from now on.
It reminds me of a quote a family member has mentioned:
"If you always do what you've always done, you always get what you always got"
I want to be better, it's time for a change.
