Weight Gain, Kick Set and Big Meets

I weighed myself on Sunday and hit an all time high of 177.1 Lbs. Just earlier in the week I was 170.5. That seems like quite a spread. Taking an average of the weight spreads I've seen, I now weigh 4-9 lbs more than last year. I've been working out just as much if not more. I feel fast in the pool and I feel physically fit. I don't bring it up because I feel like I have some sort of weight issue, but I think there's something to be said for power to weight ratio. I suppose a portion of this gain could be attributed to my weight training. Adding muscle will add weight of course. I've determined over the last few months, if anything, I need to be eating more. I doubt any reasonable weight gain will deter me from eating or training.

I did a 3,500 yard practice tonight with 2,000 of those yards kick, 1,500 of which were fast kicking 100's on the 1:40. I did a simple little set:

100 easy kick on 2:00
1x100 fast flutter kick on 1:40
100 easy kick on 2:00
2x100 fast flutter kick on 1:40
100 easy kick on 2:00
3x100 fast flutter kick on 1:40
100 easy kick on 2:00
4x100 fast flutter kick on 1:40
100 easy kick on 2:00
5x100 fast flutter kick on 1:40

I was feeling it by those last 5 100's. I was finishing the 100's between the 1:15 and 1:25. I know I can do better but this is a good start.

I'm considering not going to the meet in Louisville this weekend due to scheduling conflicts. I knew it was never a sure thing that I would make it there, but I feel as though I need to focus on my two big meets in December. These are the USA Short Course Nationals in Atlanta, and the TYR Grand Prix in Chicago. I haven't made a decision just yet.
