4200 Long Course

Posted by Kevin Doak on Wednesday at: 6:15pm (October 29th, 2008)
I made it an early morning and practiced at the same time as EMU. I did a majority of the written practice and it was a great change of pace from my typical self created 3,000yard workouts. It was a good mix of kicking on all four sides, IM drills, pulling and sprints. Tuesday was the first time since I began training a few years ago that it struck me that I should change what I'm doing. I want to be significantly better than what I am now and I can't make improvements if I keep doing what I've done. It brought to mind a well known quote:

"If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

I'm ready to make a huge leap forward in my training. Its a neccessary step to achieve my goal. I haven't exactly decided what will change but I will make a commitment and stick to it. I have 20 lifetime best swims to achieve in 11 months and it WILL happen.
