This website has a lot of information about the 2008 Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha:

Clever name... I know.

The most interesting (to me) thing I found was the "Athlete Village Dining Menu" which is summarized by the following:

Memorial day workouts

Posted by Kevin Doak on Tuesday at: 4:23am (May 27th, 2008)
What a great memorial day! I feel like I did about everything athletic I could pack into a day off. It started with swim practice for 2 hours, then walked 4 miles, did some plyometrics training, played some hardcore frisbee for a few hours and I think I squeezed a nap in there somewhere. It was a fantastic way to spend a beautiful day outside while getting a lot of alternative exercise. I'm back in the weight room and the pool tomorrow as I gear up for the Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in 2 weeks and the Olympic Trials in 5 weeks.

Arm Workouts

Posted by Kevin Doak on Saturday at: 10:51pm (May 24th, 2008)
I tried a set today that was recommended to me by Paul Carter recently to improve my arm position. By swimming with my fists closed I'm forced to focus on how much water I'm catching with my forearm. It really is amazing how little water I pull with my arm. After a quick comparison of swimming with my hand fully open compared to closed fists it seems like I could do a better job with my arm positioning. I'll probably do this set more often, it seems like it helps me feel the water more.

50 back lead off

Posted by Kevin Doak on Wednesday at: 7:18pm (May 21st, 2008)

I looked at the 100 back final times again from this weekend, I'm really proud to say that I'm taking out the 100 back just as fast as some of the biggest names at the meet. I'm not saying I'm as fast as them, but it's a fact that the best 100 backstrokers at this meet had a 50 split in the high 26, low 27 second range, my prelim split was 27.34 which made me the 4th fastest leadoff split of prelims and the 9th fastest leadoff split of the day. Its my endurance that hits me on the 2nd 50 meters.

Santa Clara block picture

Posted by Kevin Doak on Wednesday at: 1:00am (May 21st, 2008)

I took it easy today with only one practice in the morning. This weekend really ran me down. I'll be back in the pool ready to go tomorrow bright and early! I took a lot of great pictures this weekend, I'm preparing them all for the site. Here is one of my favorites:

This is taken from on top of the block in lane 5, where most of the records were broken this weekend, I used my 8mm Fisheye lens

Video Labels

Posted by Kevin Doak on Monday at: 11:50pm (May 19th, 2008)
I've started labeling what lane I am in the videos, if you hover over the video name in the right hand pane it will show a tool tip on what lane number, and where to find me in the screen. Such as: "Lane 2 (Second lane from the top of the screen)". Hopefully that helps. Not all the videos are labeled yet, but I'm working on it.
